Deciding Moments: Act Fast Against Strokes

The impact of strokes resonates on a global scale. By recognizing and preventing them, we have the power to alter outcomes through informed actions.

What is a Stroke?

A stroke, or cerebrovascular accident (CVA), happens when blood flow to part of the brain is disrupted, depriving brain cells of oxygen and nutrients. Brain cell damage or death can occur rapidly during a stroke event. The effects on stroke survivors vary depending on the location and extent of brain tissue affected. While some individuals fully recover, nearly two-thirds of stroke survivors experience lingering disabilities.
